CalNonprofits has a new initiative to get people affiliated with nonprofits (staff, volunteers, board members, clients) to be more engaged in the political process to further their organization’s cause. Jan Masaoka, CalNonprofits’ new Exec. Dir., says: “All of us have come to work and volunteer in nonprofits because we have ideals about changing the world,” Masaoka said. “Whatever those ideals are, use your vote to further them.” Check out a great article talking about this initiative and nonprofits’ role in civic engagement: http://www.nonprofitquarterly.org/policysocial-context/20271-exploring-the-vote-with-your-mission-model.html.
