Outward Bound Adventures (www.obainc.org) provides meaningful nature-based educational experiences for urban under-served youth, young adults and their families. OBA turns 50 this year, so the organization has seen its share of changes and has continued providing services throughout. OBA is currently in a transition phase, as their long-time Director is moving on to a new job opportunity. OBA is thinking proactively about this transition and looking at expanding their board to help transition to a new Director, and asked if JRP could find a board development expert to help.
JRP had the perfect volunteer. Mitch (www.dorgerconsulting.com) is a board development consultant, with a long career in business development and nonprofit management. He generously offered to work with the current OBA board throughout this year to help them formalize board infrastructure, assess needs and train new board members.
By building a stronger board, OBA will be able to expose under-served kids to nature for 50 more years! Thanks to Mitch for volunteering his time and expertise and to OBA for helping poor kids get out of the inner city.
