Got 20 minutes to help a nonprofit? Or are you a nonprofit that needs some quick help? Check out micro-volunteering at Sparked.com, or if you’re in Los Angeles, use the Volunteer Los Angeles portal at http://volunteerlosangeles.sparked.com. Sparked gives some ideas of volunteer opportunities that work well for micro-opportunities; we’ve had great experiences with a variety of projects including Spanish translation, review of websites, and finding connections on social media. Today I referred this resource to a nonprofit who is marketing a new service, as short-term volunteers can post information in a wider variety of venues than the nonprofit can. So during your next lunch break, check out the short-term volunteer opportunities. If you’re a nonprofit who would like to use this service but doesn’t know where to begin, feel free to call me to brainstorm: 626-319-6466, or contact Lawrence Washington (lwashington@volunteerlosangeles.org) at Volunteer Los Angeles for the best place to begin. Happy micro-volunteering!
