Barry McGuire, the longtime folk and gospel singer-songwriter, will perform a concert to benefit Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley (www.fpsgv.org) on Sunday, June 9 at the First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena.
In a career that has spanned more than four decades, McGuire is known for performing with the Mamas and Papas and for the hit “Eve of Destruction.” McGuire will perform his songs and share his journey to hope at the concert, which also will feature John York of the Byrds.
Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps homeless children and their families stay off the streets and regain their independence. It has created a network of local religious congregations that take turns – a week at a time – housing and feeding the families. During the day, children go to school, while the parents go to the Family Promise Resource Center where a case manager helps them find work and housing.
