Keeping Pasadena Healthy

Last year, the AIDS Service Center ( formed a strategic alliance with the Pasadena Public Health Department ( to provide a wide array of services to people with HIV/AIDS. This unique collaboration help HIV/AIDS patients to receive both medical and social services in one location. Although funding for services increased with this alliance, funding for administration did not, meaning that behind-the-scenes staff have a greatly increased work load to keep operations moving smoothly, whether in scheduling appointments or keeping accurate records. JRP recently recruited a new volunteer who recently retired from running HIV/AIDS programs. Diana will help the Public Health Department to assess current systems for contract compliance so that a variety of funding streams will continue to come into the Public Health Department. Public Health Director Dr. Walsh called Diana ‘an angel sent from heaven’ because her skills are such a perfect fit with his department’s current needs. By building more efficient systems, the Public Health Department will be able to help even more patients living with this terrible disease. Thanks to Diana for sharing her unique skill set and to the Public Health Department for providing such needed services to so many Pasadena residents!
