Strategic Planning for Foundation for Living Beauty

Foundation for Living BeautyStrategic planning is so hard! It stretches our minds into the future, requiring us to see the big picture. How far in advance should we plan? How do we know how the economy will be or how demographic trends will change? Despite its challenges, strategic planning is crucial for nonprofits to continue doing good community work. The Foundation for Living Beauty (FLB –, which has been in existence for about 5 years and has grown steadily, knew how important thinking ahead is. FLB empowers women to increase their physical wellness and emotional stability while coping with the taxing effects of cancer and chemotherapy. JRP volunteer Anne has recently completed a 6-month strategic planning process that has helped the small staff and board to really plan ahead, including program development and a possibly social enterprise. The process also helped make sure that everyone is on the same page, whether they’re paid staff or volunteers, meaning that more people will work toward the same goals. FLB has set some big goals for themselves, but has a clear direction for their future, thereby helping them to help even more women who have or have had cancer.
