K9 Youth Alliance

K9YAStarting a nonprofit is really hard, even when you have a great program. K9 Youth Alliance (www.k9youthalliance.org) brings together rescue animals and at-risk youth, which is beneficial for both groups; teens help train animals in good behavior so that they’re more likely to be adopted and teens learn responsibility and gain a sense of purpose. K9YA is based on an organization that has run youth & animal programs successfully for several years. But K9YA’s founder, Kelly, needed help to put together the many puzzle pieces involved in starting a nonprofit. JRP volunteers Leslie and Mitch have helped K9YA build a great board and build a smart work plan for launching programs in 2016. The projects have gone so well that Leslie has joined the board!
